Hockey Families. It is time to rally around one of our own.

Pernilla Nobles is associated with the Oklahoma City Blazers Youth Hockey Team. Her son Sean plays on their hockey team. Pernilla is in need of a bone marrow transplant and they are looking for a match and support.  Below is an email with details on how we can help. Although directed at the Oklahoma community, I am sure that all local Blood Institutes will work with the Oklahoma branch to help Pernilla.  To make a donation in the DFW area you can contact the Carter BloodCare Center, for more information go to (for blood donations) www.carterbloodcare.org, for bone marrow donations go to www.nmdpdallas.org.

 Please try and help.

Hello everyone,

As many of you know, Pernilla has Aplastic Anemia.  This is an illness that affects her blood system.  She has been in and out of the hospital several times in the last week for blood transfusions.  She is currently at home resting.  Her greatest need right now is a bone marrow transplant as well as blood donations.  Below are some ways you can help Pernilla, Larry, Scott and Sean:

Bone Marrow DonationPlease go to your local Oklahoma Blood Institute to be tested as a potential bone marrow donor.  The procedure is very simple-they simply swab your mouth and send the sample off to find your tissue type.  You will also be asked to fill out a few medical questions.  The whole process takes about 15 minutes.  After your sample has been sent off and "typed" your info will be entered into the national donor registry where it will be matched to all people in need of a bone marrow transplant--including Pernilla.  The cost to have your sample "typed" is $30 dollars.  If cost is an issue, please let me know and we can get the cost covered.

The Edmond branch is located at 3409 S. Broadway, next to Charleston's at 33rd and Broadway.  They are open Mon-Thurs 7:30 - 6:00, Fri 7:30 - 4:30, and Saturday 7:30 - 2:00.   Phone number 475-0359

Blood Donations:  Please donate blood, plasma, or platelets in Pernilla's name.  Again, you can do donate at your local Blood Institute.   Blood donations take 30 minutes, plasma and platelets take about 2 hours.  You must have an appointment to donate plasma or platelets, but you can walk in to donate blood.

She gets credit for every unit that is donated in her name.  It does not matter what your blood type is, she will still get credit.  Her information is as follows:

Pernilla Nobles                                 405-659-4138 Cell
429 Summer Road                          405-340-6651 Home
Edmond, OK 73034                         email address:  lpnobles@flash.net

She is currently using 2-4 units of blood and platelets every 3-7 days.  Just let them know you are donating for Pernilla.

Meals:  Many of you have asked to help with a meal.  Pernilla is very limited as to what she can eat due to the weakened state of her immune system.  She is not allowed to have anything from a restaurant or any fresh fruits or vegetables.  So, we have set up an account at Joyce's Catering in Edmond.  You can mail or go by and make a cash donation in her name and they will prepare meals for the Noble's as needed.  Make the check payable to Joyce's Catering.

The address is:  Joyce's Catering, 109 N Littler Ave, Edmond OK 73034

If you prefer you can get me, Kristin Gibson, or Kari Wasemiller the check, and we will get it to Joyce's Catering.

Pernilla is not able to have visitors but I am sure she would love to hear from you.  Her address is listed above and her e-mail address is lpnobles@flash.net.

Please forward this e-mail to all your e-mail friends.  The more people that sign up to be bone marrow donors, the better the chances that a match will be found.

Please continue to pray for Pernilla and her family.

If you have any questions or other ways to help, please let me know.

Thanks, Stacey
